NMSK Game Show task

Last term our year 7&8 extension group  got a task to make a project out of makey makey equipment. We had a choice out of a gameshow, Make your own instruments, and game for the disabled. My group chose gameshow because we thought it will be easy.

In my group we had Noah, Mitchell, Kyron and Me Simon. First my group planned what our game show will look like and what it would be called. We came up with the name NMSK game show because it has the first letters of our names in it.

The next week my group started making our game show with the makey makey equipment. First we had to sign into scratch and make it make buzzing noises. After that we connected wires to the play doh and connected the other side to the computer. We created some questions for our game show. We finished just on time for testing.

Me and my group found this task hard because there was too much mess.

Niuean Language Week

Niuean Language Week. Today we celebrated the people from the beautiful island of Niue. At assembly this morning we had the awesome Niuean group perform a traditional dance for the school.  They were all dressed up in there costumes. First the speakers came to the front and they where Lomio, TJ , Trinity , Juliana, Rosalina, and Judah. Also the Niuean girls did a dance and the boys went to the back and got ready to do there haka. When the girls finished there performance they sat down then the boys moved to the front and did there haka. It blew everyone of there seats. After that they did a bow and walked off the stage and sat back down. it was awesome.

How to be Organised after school

Today I am going to teach you how to be well organised for school the next day. When you go home the best thing to do is empty your bag. If you have your lunch box and your computer in your bag take your computer out and charge it and when it hits night time take it of the charger and put it in your bag. But before all of that take your lunch box and pack your lunch. But if your packing stuff that needs to be cold just put it in the fridge and take it out in the morning. After that hang your uniform on a hanger to get the yuck smell out of it. And those are my tips of how to be organised after school.

My Immersion Assembly

Today was the first day back at school and every term we have a new topic well this terms topic is “Musical Madness” We had a immersion Assembly and some teachers were playing instruments and singing. At my school we have a order of performances it goes Team 1 Team 2 and more up to Team 5.
Team 1 was first they did a performance. They were playing cards and listening to music around a table. And when the  music changes there  emotions change as well. Sometimes there happy and sometimes they're sad. Team 1 is going to be learning about how music can change your emotions.

Team 2 was up next. A teacher from team 2 sat on a chair with her ukulele and played In the jungle and sang. When she was in the middle of her song some more teachers walked on the stage with their instruments.

Team 3 put a movie up about songs in real life but with teachers. It shows a teacher sitting on a couch and other teachers walk in and ask him questions but the questions are songs. He replied with a song and the conversation went on and on.

Team 4’s item was about some teachers in a car singing. They said that listening to music makes it more fun in a car. It also changed their emotions.

Team 5 the last team and the best team. They did an act. They sat on a couch and started watching Lion King. They changed the music about 3 times. The first time was normal the second time was scary and the third time made people say no.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

Every year we have a event called Manaiakalani Film Festival. There are 12 school  involved in this event. Manaiakalani Film Festival is when schools go to Sylvia park movie theatre and share movies.
Well this year I am involved in 2 movies so I am going to tell you about my experience with Manaiakalani. This year we are combining three movies together. I am in one movie were you have to dress up and answer questions. Something I found challenging about filming was getting the right costume and saying my parts in the movie. Something I could of done better was to dress better and say my parts with expression. Another movie me and my friend Noah wanted to do was Nacho Libre!Image result for Manaiakalani Film Festival

Speech competition

On Friday we had a speech competition for all the best speeches . And now i'm going to tell you about the best speech. I Think a girl named Danielle had the best speech. It was about why you should not take drugs. I liked how her topic because it was good and it had a special meaning. Her speech was about her nana and what she did. It was also sad and sometimes happy, so the story was emotional. And that's why I liked her story more than all the rest.

Simon's speech

Should all schools use pencil and paper. I think yes because schools that use computers for learning get distracted easily on their devices. And another fact is because when we get to college a lot of kids hand writing will be bad because they are so use to their computer or tablet. Kids spelling will be bad as well because there is spell check on devices.

Some people when they have their computer at school they hide in a corner with their friends and go on the wrong stuff. But when you have pencil and paper what's the point of hiding in the corner. That's why people should use pencil and paper.

Simon's immersion assembly

Today was the first day back at school and our new focus is Guardians of the galaxy . We got ready for our assembly. As we walked into the school hall we saw stars on the roof. We sat down in our seats and got ready for our teachers items. BOOM the lights turned off and the stars looked beautiful with the lights off.

Team 1 played a movie on the big screen. It was about the teachers going out of space in there cars and checking out planets and how it works. So what team one is going to look at out of space this term.

Team 2’s focus is about the sun and the moon and planets. They played a movie about the teachers in space. They were exploring planets and looking if there was anything interesting about the planets.

Team 3’s focus was about time and seasons. They had a movie as well it was about time and what they do daily. It was pretty funny.
Team 4’s focus is about getting spaceships into space and wondering if there is oxygen on other planets.

Team 5 is the last team and there item was amazing. They did not play a movie because they did a live act. So team 5s focus this term is to learn how the moon changes the tides.

The most informative presentation was probably Team 1s because in their video it shows the teachers in their flying cars flying to space. They visit the sun and the moon and other planets.

The things I'm going to like about this term is studying about space, and looking at how spaceships and other things work in space.

The Warriors rugby game

One of the highlights of my holiday was the Warriors rugby league game at Mt Smart Stadium. As the lady scans my ticket I full up with excitement. The Warriors were versing the Penrith Panthers. We sit down watching the under 21’s rugby game when I see a delicious ice cream getting handed to me from my brother Michael. We sit down to the sight of laughter and enjoyment until we see a video pop up on the big screen. It caught our attention very quickly, it was archives of Manu Vatuvei. Sadly it was Manu Vatuvei last game. The thing I thought was ridiculous was Manu’s contract. “It says he cannot play his final game due to the club”. We watched on to him walking onto the field and the sight of black Warrior jerseys standing up and clapping to him walking onto the field with his family. He sits down with his former team mates with tears running down his face. Him, his family and the crowd were entertained by the warriors performance. The Warriors were doing so good but after half time it’s like they went to sleep. And Sadly they lost in the final minutes. The final score was 22 and 34 to Penrith. At the end of the rugby game the Warriors did a haka to Manu and they gave him his former Warriors Jersey back. The End

5 big changes in space travel

5 big changes in space travel

Before Yuri Gagarin went out of space Russia and America had a huge space race but now America and Russia and Russia have teamed up. When Yuri Gagarin went into space he stayed seated at all times. When now days you can walk around the spaceship.
People send 3 or more people into space. But back in the day only one person could go into space. Now days people can stay in space for a very long time.

Simon What I have learnt about space

Some things that have changed after the first man went out of space.

Back in the day the first man who ever orbited around space was in a spaceship with nothing. He just sat down in his seat and orbited around the earth. Now days a spaceship has food, drink and even a toilet.  About two our more people can fit in a spaceship.
